On the inside they had all of the old furniture. As Alex said, it was like stepping back in time. It even smelled "old" haha. I don't think either of us had climbed so many stairs. There was a huge spiral staircase...so big that there were seats & couches on the different levels of the staircase so you could sit to take a break. That house had everything from a million bedrooms...to fireplaces in almost every room...a bowling alley...an indoor pool...& the list goes on & on.
It is hard to believe that that house was actually someone's home. It is so unbelievably huge...I think it would have been pretty creepy to live there...& what if you were there home alone? I would flip out. But they did have at least 5 bedrooms for their servants...so I guess they were never technically "alone".
Since I couldn't take any pictures inside the house, I found someone online so you can see how pretty the inside really is...
When you first walk in this is what you see...
One of the million bedrooms.
My favorite room-the library. It's HUGE & the mural on the ceiling is beautiful.
It felt like the library on The Beauty & The Beast.
Banquet Room.
Huge spiral staircase.
The empty pool. Creepy.
Bowling alley.
70 foot ceiling in the banquet hall, 65 fireplaces in the whole house, 35 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms, 3 kitchens, 23000 books, & the driveway to the home is 3 miles long.
Alex & I took our own tour through the home, got ice cream from their ice cream shop (which was deeelicious), visited the winery, & the gardens. So many stairs, so many hills, so much walking! Also, it was like 90 degrees. But we had the best time together! Needless to say we were pooped by the end of the day. We went back to the hotel...ordered pizza & watched the first half of Frozen before falling asleep. We were pooped.
Here are a few of the pictures we took on our trip!
:) One more thing we are able to check off on our Bucket List. :)
